The Rejection
Princess Mahadevi of Udutadi rejected marriage to a local king, declaring her eternal husband was Shiva (Chennamallikarjuna).
The Naked Wanderer
She wandered naked through Karnataka, her long hair her only covering, composing Vachanas of intense divine love. When questioned about her nudity, she replied: "The body is a temple; why cover it when the Lord dwells within?"
The Union
She merged into Shiva at Kadali in her youth, achieving the ultimate union of the soul with the Divine.
