Ways to Help

  1. Review an entry

Flag inaccuracies, missing sources, or framing issues in a tradition you know well.

  2. Suggest a missing entry

Deity, text, practice, festival, or tradition we have not covered.

  3. Add citations

Point us at the primary source, sutta, śloka, or scholarly work.

  4. Translate

    Translate entries into your language.

II.

Submitting Changes

The easiest path is the web contribution form — it builds a pre-filled GitHub issue with proper frontmatter, no YAML required.

For PRs and edits, use github.com/pmaero-byte/ELGODS. Each entry is a markdown file in divine-lens-content/<category>/ with frontmatter for tradition, sources, reviewer, and verification status.

Image Contributions

Images must be public domain or carry a Creative Commons license compatible with CC BY-SA (CC0, CC BY, CC BY-SA). Wikimedia Commons is the preferred source. Set image, image_source, image_attribution, and image_license in the entry frontmatter. Avoid copyrighted photography, studio shoots, or AI-generated deity imagery — the latter is explicitly disallowed to avoid misrepresentation.

Editorial Principles

  1. Describe traditions as their practitioners describe them

    Not as outsiders rank them.

  2. Cite primary sources where possible

Point us at the primary source, sutta, śloka, or scholarly work.

  3. Mark draft work UNVERIFIED

Until a tradition-specific reviewer signs off.

  4. No proselytizing, no ranking, no monetization

    Every tradition with equal respect.
