What is Jyotish?
Jyotish (from Sanskrit jyotiṣa, "science of light") is the traditional Hindu system of astrology. Unlike Western astrology, which is primarily sun-sign based, Jyotish uses the sidereal zodiac and places equal emphasis on the Moon, the ascendant (Lagna), and the planetary periods (Dasha).
