Bagalāmukhī (literally "she who holds the tongue") is the eighth Mahāvidyā. She grasps the tongue of her enemies in her right hand and paralyzes their speech. Her tantric worship is invoked for protection against slander, defeat in debate, and court cases.
Bagalāmukhī is the tantric goddess invoked in times of hostile speech, legal battles, or rival debate. Her principal shrine at Bankhaṇḍī (Kangra) is famous for attracting lawyers, politicians, and people pursuing justice-seeking vratas. Her yellow complexion, yellow sari, and yellow-flower offerings connect her to Bṛhaspati (Jupiter) — patron of wisdom and oration.
