Gorakhnāth (ca. 11th c. CE) — a disciple of Matsyendra-nātha, founder of the Nāth-Sampradāya and articulator of classical Haṭha-yoga. His centre at Gorakhpur (named for him) is the principal Nātha mutt. Gorakhnāth is said to have attained immortality through yoga (a Chiranjīvī). His disciples include the famous Goga Ji, Bharthrī, Gopīchand, Jālandhara-nātha. The Nātha tradition spread across all India; regional forms include the Kānphaṭā yogīs of Rajasthan, the Jogīs of Bengal.
