HayagrÄ«va MÄdhava Temple at HÄjo (13th c.) is unique ā claimed simultaneously by Hindus (as an incarnation of Vishnu) and Buddhists (as the place where Buddha attained MahÄparinirvÄį¹a ā distinct from Kushinagar tradition, but recognized in Assam). The temple draws both communities. The Buddhist Bhutanese king also maintains a shrine here.
