The Nāgas are a race of serpent deities in Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain mythology. Shesha, the king of the Nāgas, serves as the cosmic bed upon which Lord Viṣṇu reclines. Nāgas are associated with water, fertility, and protection. Their worship is widespread across the subcontinent, from the Nāga temples of Kerala to the ancient sites of the Indus Valley.
