Akbar promotes sulh-i-kul (universal peace), patronizing Hindu and Persian arts alike. Dara Shikoh translates Upanishads into Persian. Guru Nanak (1469–1539) founds Sikhism, rejecting caste and synthesizing Hindu-Muslim ideals.
