The Haṁsa (swan or goose) is the vāhana of both Brahmā, the creator, and Sarasvatī, the goddess of learning and arts. It is said to possess the unique ability to separate milk from water, symbolizing the power of spiritual discernment (viveka)—the capacity to distinguish between the eternal truth (sat) and the fleeting illusion (māyā).
