The Jade Emperor (Yù Huáng Shàngdì, 玉皇上帝) is the supreme ruler of the celestial court in Taoism and Chinese folk religion — the god who presides over heaven, earth, and the underworld, and who commands the vast bureaucratic pantheon of gods, officials, and local divinities.
