Karni Mata (કર્ણી માતા) is a famous goddess in Bikaner, Rajasthan. Her temple in Deshnoke is famous for being inhabited by thousands of rats (kabas).
Karni Mata was a mystic who lived in the 15th-16th century. She is believed to have prayed for her brother's revival, and he was reborn as a rat.
