Liáš garÄja â King of Liáš gas, presiding Shiva of Odisha
Liáš garÄja Temple (11th c., Kesari dynasty) is the largest and most important Shaiva shrine of Odisha, and of the 3 principal liáš gas in India (with KÄĹi ViĹvanÄtha and SomnÄtha). The 55-m curvilinear Ĺikhara is the tallest of any Odisha temple. The liáš ga is a svayam-bhĹŤ natural rock-form, draped in water from the Bindu-sÄgar tank (believed to contain water from every sacred river in India). The shrine complex houses ~150 subsidiary deity-shrines.
Daily aarati (dawn + dusk); abhisheka; flower and coconut offerings; evening deepa-dhyana. Annual festival features procession, special darshan, distribution of prasadam, and gathering of community.
