Mutharamman (pearl-mother) was a Pāṇḍya queen deified. Her jewel-studded shrine has the goddess in gold with real pearls. Annual Koḍai in Āḍi (July–August) involves all-night drumming and pilgrims carry kavaḍi (decorated poles on shoulder) for vows.
