SÄ«tÄmarhÄ« ("Sita's abode") marks the Bihar-side birthplace of SÄ«tÄ ā King Janaka ploughed a field and uncovered her. The SÄ«tÄ Kund (sacred well) is the traditional site. The annual SÄ«tÄ NavamÄ« (AprilāMay) draws pilgrims from Janakpur (Nepal) where the JanakÄ« Temple commemorates the same event. SÄ«tÄmarhÄ« has been a pilgrimage since early-modern times; rebuilding has occurred after many earthquakes.
Daily aarati (dawn + dusk); abhisheka; flower and coconut offerings; evening deepa-dhyana. Annual festival features procession, special darshan, distribution of prasadam, and gathering of community.
