Hindu / Vaishnava - Bhadrachalam, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Telangana (17.6701°N, 80.8953°E) Bhadrāchalam is on the Godavari where Rama is said to have rested during his forest exile. The temple was built by the Gol-konda Sultan-era tehsildar Kancherla Gopanna (Bhakta Ramadās) in the 17th c., using temple revenues to build it — for which he was imprisoned by Aurangzeb; Rama himself is said to have paid his ransom. Bhakta Ramadās's Telugu Rāma-kīrtanas are performed here as annual tradition.
