📖 Stories

  • Alha's eternal devotion
Legend holds that Alhā — the 12th-century warrior-hero of Mahoba — first worships at Maihar each morning before anyone else. Despite his death in battle against Prithvirāja Chauhān, he continues to offer flowers at dawn. Priests arriving at sunrise find the shrine already has fresh flowers — no one knows how. This has persisted 800 years.
