Singbonga

Sing Boṅgā is the Sun-god and supreme creator of the Munda, Ho, Oraon, and Asur tribes of Chotanagpur. In the Munda myth he is the creator who shaped the first humans from clay, baked them in the sun, and gave them the secret of iron-smelting.

Munda cosmology: Sing Bonga created the first humans but they were arrogant. He washed them away in a flood. The second creation were the ancestors of the Mundas who paid him proper tribute. His companion Bhut Singbonga represents the darker spirits; together they uphold the world. The Munda Mahasabha and similar organizations are actively preserving Munda religion; Sarnaism as practiced by Santals shares deep structural similarities with Munda Sing-bonga worship.
