Vighnahar of Ozar
Vighnahar Ganapati of Ozar (Pune district) is the seventh Ashtavinayak. Vighnahar — "remover of obstacles" — slew the demon Vighnāsura at this site.
Tradition & Significance
Ozar's Vighneśvara is distinguished by his gold-plated dome (śikhara) — restored by Chimaji Appa (brother of Peshwa Baji Rao I) in 1785 after Chimaji's military victories in Vasai. The temple complex is surrounded by a fortified wall. The mūrti has eyes set with rubies and a diamond forehead.
