The Delhi Court

He served as a qadi (judge) in the Delhi Sultanate under Muhammad bin Tughlaq, describing the grand mosque and madrasas of Delhi in detail. He documented Sufi practices, including the qawwali and sama gatherings.

South India and the Maldives

He visited the Hoysala temples and noted their intricate sculpture. He also described the maritime trade and the cosmopolitan ports of Malabar, providing detailed descriptions of Indian food, clothing, and social customs.
