Maṇḍara — the mountain used in the Churning of the Ocean
Hindu / Vaishnava
Maṇḍara-parvata (691m) is the mountain used as the churning-stick in the Samudra-manthana (Churning of the Ocean of Milk). The mountain's base preserves signs of ancient circumambulation. Climbers also see the Vishnu-paduka (footprint) at the summit. The 5-day Makar Sankranti fair draws thousands from Bihar and Jharkhand.
