Additional Viṭṭhal satellite shrines in Marathwada
Hindu / Vaishnava / Warkari
Beyond Pandharpur itself, every Maharashtrian town has a satellite Viṭṭhal shrine. The devotee-culture of the Vārkarī Panth organizes annual pilgrimages from these satellite shrines. Parbhani, Nanded, Solapur, Latur, Akola, Beed all maintain active Viṭṭhal temples. During the Āṣāḍhī Wārī, these shrines empty as their devotees join the main foot-pilgrimage to Pandharpur.
India's sacred landscape embraces Hindu, Jain, Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, Sikh, Zoroastrian, tribal, regional-folk traditions — each with its own cosmology and priestly lineage. This entry honours Hindu on its own terms.
