Garuḍa, the divine eagle, is the mighty vāhana of Lord Viṣṇu. Born of the sage Kaśyapa and Vinatā, he is the sworn enemy of serpents (nāgas) and represents the sun, the sky, and the triumph of good over evil. His wings span the heavens, and his speed is unmatched among all creatures.
