Hindu / Vaishnava
The Snāna Yātrā of Puri (Jyeṣṭha Pūrṇimā, May–June) — the annual bathing festival — marks Jagannātha, Balabhadra, and Subhadrā being bathed with 108 pots of water on the Snāna Mandapa (outside the main temple). After this bathing, the 3 deities are said to fall ill for 15 days (ānasara) — during which time they are NOT visible to the public. On Ratha Yātrā day (2 weeks later) they emerge "healed" and begin the chariot journey. Half a million pilgrims attend Snāna Yātrā.
